Accessibility
Our commitment to you
Gyal Braids believes beautiful braids should be accessible to everyone. We're committed to making our website work for all customers — including those who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technologies.
What we're doing
We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard. Here's what that looks like in practice:
- Descriptive alt text on every product image so screen readers can convey what you'd see
- A logical heading structure that makes it easy to navigate with assistive technology
- Keyboard-accessible navigation — you can browse and shop without a mouse
- Visible focus indicators so keyboard users always know where they are on the page
- Properly labelled forms so every input field makes sense to screen readers
- A skip-to-content link that lets you jump past the navigation on every page
We're not done yet
Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time fix. We regularly audit our site, and we're actively working on improvements — including better color contrast, enhanced screen reader support for our cart and checkout flow, and more thorough keyboard navigation testing.
Something not working for you?
If you run into any accessibility barriers on our site — or if there's something we can do to make your experience better — we want to hear about it. Seriously.
Reach out to us at gyal@gyalbraids.com and include:
- A description of the issue you experienced
- The page or product you were trying to access
- The assistive technology you were using (if applicable)
We'll do our best to respond within 2 business days and work with you to find a solution.
Standards we follow
Our accessibility efforts are guided by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These are the most widely recognized standards for web accessibility.
